About the artist...

I started pottery more than 13 years ago because of a friend. After returning from a military deployment, she was asked to make a bucket list as part of readjusting to civilian life. She had already done most of the big bucket-list things, so she chose something quieter: learn pottery. Then she called and asked me to take a class with her. I said yes, and somewhere along the way pottery stuck. What started as something I tried with a friend became a creative outlet I never expected to love quite this much.

I live and create in Helena, Montana, and much of what I make is inspired by the mountains, forests and landscapes around me. I’ve always loved making things with my hands, and I love that pottery can be both beautiful and useful — something made by hand that becomes part of someone’s everyday life.

My faith is also woven into my work. Scripture often describes God as the potter and us as the clay, and that image has become especially meaningful to me. Clay can be dried out, broken down and reclaimed, then shaped into something new. I’m reminded often that God does the same with us.

That’s really what Angie’s MT Pots is about for me: creating pieces inspired by God’s beauty in nature, made by hand here in Montana, and meant to be used and enjoyed.
